Number 16 and the title is The Intensity of Shared Memories

This painting I decided to do what I mentioned in the previous post. I decided to just let the spirit move me and go with whatever comes out. I was considering the conversations I had with my son while I stayed with him. There were some exchanges that were difficult. We had some serious conversations. I do believe that as we change in life we can hear something we have heard many times and it will mean something different at some point. I don't think it's a for sure thing just a sometime thing. No matter what I remember and felt about things of long ago it will never change my sons memory and feelings about those same events. He was able to be aware of things he was holding on too and this was interesting to witness. I couldn't stop thinking about shared memories. People see and experience one event and have different results or feelings or outcomes. This is what I considered while painting. I am drawn to the contrast of color and how intense the lime green looks next to the red. The dots of color are strong and they feel more intense against a darker background. Opposing colors that look as intense as those shared memories. They scream to be noticed. The dots of different colors compete with each other. This painting feels loud with bright colors. I like looking at it but maybe it's like being in a room with loud noise, you can only take so much. Life has it's moments of intensity, that's the idea. Taking a walk down memory lane can be like an explosion of color. It certainly is a big pop of color which we can all use from time to time or tolerate or like or maybe in just the right places or once in a while. It certainly makes for a colorful life. It certainly made a colorful painting.

Thanks for coming over to read about my work. I think I like one of the comments in my last post that there are no 100 day's police that will come and cart me off to daily painting prison haha.. but it's a plan and if I give myself too much leeway I might put too much time in between. For now I'm going to relax a bit and do 100 paintings. This is number 16 and if you would be interested in owning this one please contact me at iwilldream4ever@aol.com. The price is $116 and it is larger then most of the others. Roughly 16 x 18 on a wood panel. Thanks again .. have a great day.

Resuming 100 days of painting abstracts

I did the grow your blog post and attempted to add follower's to my blog. And then life happened and I had to take a break to drive to my old hometown. I was gone for more than a week and I got to spend some time with my grandchildren. The prospect of taking painting supplies and keeping myself trained on this current series was just not feasible so I gave myself permission to take a break. If you would still like to join my blog just leave me a note and I will include you in my give away which are one of the three illustrations at the top of my previous post. You don't have to follow me to be included in the giveaway but I'd sure love it if you did. So back to abstracts .. I have been bouncing around trying different things to create the work that I am doing in this series. I am still drawn to the reds and yellows so I may stay with that for a while. This painting is a rectangle about the size of 8 x 15. It is on a wood panel. I have decided to paint abstract about things that are happening in my life. I have been through some difficulties in life just as everyone else. Some are worse than others, I have to deal with how my decisions in life have affected my children. I'm am grateful for time which has a way of lessening the impact of hearing and realizing things about the people that I love the most. I'll also paint about this feeling of loss. I know it is loss .. not sure it will be evoked in the works but either way it will be the catalyst. Maybe it will move me into more joy. That is not my intent it is my way of giving the work a focus. It is after all, my experiment. Thanks for stopping over and as always .. I love to hear your thoughts about the work .. I will call this painting.. Cross My Heart. If you would like to own this painting please email me at iwilldream4ever@aol.com. Have a fantastic day!!!

Day 14 Abstract

This is Day 14 .. and maybe finally I am settling in on something I am enjoying and that is appealing to me. The contrast of the colors is really interesting and I enjoy the interplay of competing contrast. I also love the circles especially the little white dots. The colors on my screen don't really seem to give it justice from what it looks like in person. This is painted on a gallery wrapped canvas size is 11 x 14. If you would like to know more about this painting please contact me at iwilldream4ever@aol.com.

Have a fabulous day!!!

Today is Day 13..

Today is day 13 and a bit after ..

I went and purchased paint today and found a place that has much to choose from and I came home and painted this painting. I really enjoyed this and the paint. I hope to do more and more. lol about 87 haha.

OK........

I have discovered that I love texture and contrasting colors.

And sleep .. haha

Goodnight!!  Thanks for stopping over..

Day 12

Today is not day 12 but this is the painting that was painted on day 12. I am one day behind because I have taken on more than I usually do.

This work is sewn paper's glued to a wood panel. It is about 12 x 16 in size. Some of the music paper that was used in this work can be seen. It looks better in person. I am enjoying the creation of texture. It's a challenge to make choices when they are so varied and limitless.

I had a good time at the demo last night. I realized that I LOVE to talk about my work. I think what is really nice is that I am getting close to doing something that I want to do which is teach. Several people have asked me to teach a class. This is very exciting.

In the mean time I am doing things these next few days that will make it challenging to do my daily painting. Hopefully I will find  way to catch up and keep going. I am excited about all that is happening right now. I am hopeful about the future.

If you would love to have this art .. please contact me at iwilldream4ever@aol.com. Have a fabulous evening!!! :)

Day 11 and a day late

This is day 11's painting and I finished it on day 11 but I am taking on too much. Yesterday I said yes to visiting with a friend and having a nice dinner and conversation and by the time I got home to take photos and post I was so tired I fell asleep and when I woke up it was well after midnight so I decided to give myself a break and post it today. The light sure is better during the day so this photo looks ten times better than it did last night. So....................here it is.. and yes I am planning to post again today so I'll have day 12 done shortly.

I am realizing yet again that I have to stop thinking and trying so hard. Sometimes I have found that when I want to create perfection I just try or want so hard that I over think what I need or want to paint. I get in my own way. I like this much better than all the other attempts I made with this panel of masonite. I have to say that I find posting these pieces less exciting because not everyone likes abstract. I haven't gotten the resounding support for these as I have the faces. So i'm less inclined to even share them on social media. But I'm going to keep pressing on and see where it goes. I am determined to keep going. I does and will influence other work. My sewing and stitching. Still mean to post some of those images too. Tonight I will be doing a demo at a local art group.. first time I've ever done that. I'm going to try not to over think it .. haha ..

If you would love to own this piece contact me at iwilldream4ever@aol.com. It's about 11 x 14 .. have a fabulous day. :) more posting later.

Day 7 of 100 abstracts in 100 days

Today is day seven and I have worked on this one off and on all day. This board that I have painted on is a scrap from my dad's house. I pulled the tape off and it left a texture that was interesting. I played around with what was behind the taped area. I probably did three different things until I settled on these beautiful color's of turquoise, green and white. I'm satisfied with the way it turned out. Originally I thought that painting an abstract would be less confining that painting a realistic image. But in fact what seems to be happening is just the opposite. I was able to stop when I had it looking as realistic as I wanted .. with the abstracts the decisions are not just about whether it looks like something. They are about whether the colors work or what the composition is and does it look balanced and not necessarily symmetrical but interesting to look it. Is there enough visual interest to even cause the viewer to want to look closer. I also have to remind myself that this is my experiment. I am trying to remain positive even though there is little interest in these paintings .. se la vie. I'm still hoping that they work will take on a life of it's own. Thanks for stopping over and send me an email if you are interested in today's work at iwilldream4ever@aol.com. Have a fabulous rest of the night.

Day 6 of 100 days of abstract painting

This is day 6 and today I got started this morning and finished up tonight. I am beginning to think this is going to be a challenge to continue ... but I will. I am hoping that over time it will be less difficult. There is a similar texture in this piece but there is a change in the color. And I also added a metallic paint which I also like.

Maybe I will work on improving my diet while painting. It's been difficult to give up eating all the foods that I love but that are also not very good for me. This would require me to get serious and not bring more of the foods that are tempting. No more deliciously good oatmeal raisin cookies, no more potatoes, no more bread. I hate it .. but i'm also tired of my expanding waist line. I'll tell you how it's going and I 'll keep painting and looking forward to seeing all of  you. wouldn't that be fun to see you ... the visitors.......email me if you have any questions or for any reason. have a great night!!!

Day 5 and back to red

Today is day five and I still love painting. Sometimes it's hard to tell how these images of my paintings look cause i can't see anyone elses monitor They look pretty red hot to me. Not sure how it really translates. I am not sure what about the red I am attracted too but I am even stitching a top that will have red on it. I'll try to post a picture of it when I'm done. I like the detail of the texture and up close i find it appealing. From a distance it seems to get lost. I find that since these paintings have no image to imitate like the realism does, I strictly go by feel and I do what my gut tells me to do and to listen to that is sometimes interesting and I find I talk to my self, haha . Yes I even answer myself and say ........who cares? I get to decide. Words even pop into my head. When I was taking a long look at this before I was completely finished i thought..... Floating above chaos. Who knows why? and they aren't so visible in this painting .. but there are red dots in a few places. I guess you can see them in the details. Maybe for some of the smaller paintings I can scan them instead of photograph them. People don't seem to have the interest in these the same way that I did with the realism. I wonder if people can see beauty even in chaos or in texture. Certainly, people with lots of character or wildly different are at the very least entertaining or they poke our attention with negative or positive reactions even if for just a minute. It's all an experiment.. I'm having fun. Thanks for stopping over and send me an email if your interested in any of my work. I appreciate those that have a word or two to say .. it is after all .. a conversation. Have a fabulous day

Day 4 or 100 Abstracts in 100 days

Today is day four of 100 abstracts in 100 days. I realize that maybe i am not sure what abstract means. I say that I am painting non objective so it does not represent anything but maybe this does represent something given that there is a pattern. Maybe it is no longer non representational. This just came from my head. Much time is spent in the creation. I like looking at it ......maybe that's all that matters. Maybe I should say I am painting 100 days of free association. Painting from my brain. Maybe i will paint paintings from my heart and see what that looks like.

Today it is raining since about 3 in the afternoon. I have been painting all day. Maybe one day I'll paint emotion ..my mood .. i'm good lately ..

I am surprised at the detail of the work .. still allowing myself to do what ever I feel like.

Thanks for stopping over.. maybe it's strange to be so different from the others. maybe there will be several different series of work in the 100 days.

If you were interested in owning this painting .. it's about 7 x 20 inches painted on wood panel in acrylic.

Have a creatively wonderful day!!! :)and yes I think this would translate wonderfully in fabric and stitching. !!

Day 3 of 100 abstracts in 100 days

Today is day three... and the one thing that isn't so good about waiting till night to post an image or paint is that the light is crappy and I can't get a clear photo. So I'll probably edit the photos tomorrow so there will be some good shots of my work. I know every day can't be successful but today I felt the pressure of whether my work is good enough. I can paint any way .. no matter who validates my work or says it's good. i paint for my joy and my happiness and while I have that most days I sometimes feel devoid of talent when a group of artists that I respect, never say my work is good and then I have shades of
rejection for my painting. But again I have to always go back to the fact that this is my experiment..

Thank you for stopping over and if you would like to own this painting please email me at iwilldream4ever@aol.com. Let me know what you think .. thank you.

Day 2 of 100 abstracts in 100 days

Day 2!!! I am not sure what to think about doing this subject matter but it's been fun so far. There is one thing about abstracts that is very interesting. I was going to say that you are never really finished but if I really think about it I could say the same about rendering a very realistic faces as well. I really have to rely on color and composition. Funny how it works out and I am enjoying the process. I thought about calling this painting deconstructed watermelon haha. But I changed it to Shared Connections. I'm not sure how to resolve the story aspect of the blog posts.. I had great stories for my faces. Today I am tired and it's coldish and cloudy outside and a true winter day for Florida. Maybe the colors here will warm you where ever you are.

This painting is for sale. If you'd like to own it email me at iwilldream4ever@aol.com. It is 11x14 on canvas with acrylic. Have a fantastic day and as always love to hear your thoughts. : )
